Quality Management

The pre-requisite for a successful quality management system is the selection of qualified producers in order to ensure that only qualitatively high-grade products reach the fishmeal terminal in Bremen.

To ensure this, it is absolutely vital that the products can be traced back from the place of production through to final delivery. The cooperation with certified companies such as the SGS, is of great assistance here.

Controls are carried out during production, transport from the factories to the ports of loading and during reloading onto sea-going vessels intended to ship the products to the terminal in Bremen by control companies such as the SGS.

It is thus ensured that the quality characteristics of the products contracted are maintained. Only the most modern vessels are used to ship the products, so that product separation according to producers, quality characteristics and ports of loading is possible, and traceability is assured during transport as well.

The above-mentioned points are, however, only preconditions for the successful realization of quality management at the fishmeal terminal in Bremen. A high degree of quality optimisation is provided by dividing the lot in silos of 250 to 2,300 tons during unloading. The contents of each silo are not only tested on salmonella but also undergo chemical analysis on composition. Continuous sample-taking during unloading ensures that the products can be classified and assessed not only on the basis of the tests carried out in the country of origin but also on the basis of the tests / samples taken in Bremen.

Dedicated companies authorized by the Bremen veterinary authorities take samples to examine the products on salmonella and mammalian proteins to ascertain that the products comply with EU import regulations.
