Control programmes assure the quality of the raw material fish and the end product fishmeal from the catch, the production processes by using the latest know-how and technologies, the sea transport and storage right up to delivery to the final customer. Chemical and physical analyses are made in company-owned and independent certified laboratories of international repute.
In the regions of origin only salmonella-free fishmeal, approved by the veterinary authorities, is allowed to be loaded for export. Before entering the EU, the lot is again analysed on salmonella. If only one sample is identified as positive, the whole lot needs to be sterilised. The authorities also test on mammalian protein and bonemeal.
Below the list of worldwide measures and controls:
- High hygienic standard for fishing, production, storage and transportation.
- Continuous monitoring during production process
- Governmental controls before entering the EU
- 100% traceability
- Controls on contamination with toxins (dioxin and PCBs).
